Typesetting Mastery: Bubble Geometry & Font Hierarchy
Learn how to shape text blocks into balanced diamonds, choose industry standard comic fonts, and eliminate awkward wraps.
### The Art of Manga Typesetting
Typesetting bridges storytelling and visual art. Good typesetting is invisible—the reader effortlessly absorbs the dialogue.
#### 1. The Diamond Rule
English manga dialogue bubbles should generally follow an elliptical/diamond layout:
```
Short Line
Longer Line 1
Longer Line 2 (Peak)
Longer Line 3
Short Line
```
#### 2. Standard Font Families
- **Dialogue**: CC Wild Words, Anime Ace, Blambot Classic
- **Shouts & Screams**: Komika Axis, Badaboom
- **Whispers / Inner Thoughts**: CC Samaritan, Augie
#### 3. Leading and Tracking
Keep leading (line spacing) tight enough so bubbles feel cohesive, but spacious enough so accents and descenders don't collide.
